Keys to Happy Healthy Hormones, Part 3

Today we continue the next steps to take in helping your body produce happy, healthy hormones. 

5. Avoid Vegetable Oils

Vegetable oils (aka seed oils like canola oil, sunflower oil, grapeseed oil & soy oil) are highly inflammatory on the body which can lead to added stress and decreased hormone production. 

Too much inflammation in the body can lead to poor communication between the brain & the endocrine organs, resulting in hormone imbalance. 

Cook with high-quality fats at home and be careful when eating out at restaurants.

I know we have heard over and over that vegetable oils are OK to consume, but research has shown the opposite to be true. These oils create inflammation and issues in our bodies that prevent it from working as it should. These should be something that your rarely, if ever, consume. 

6. Eat Lots of Cruciferous Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts etc.) contain components called indols that support the heathy metabolism & detoxification of excess hormones like estrogen. 

They are also are packed with vitamins and minerals, and provide a great source of fiber which helps to stabilize blood sugar levels & keep you regular. Not only do these vegetables taste super good, they are super good for your hormone health as well!!

They really help your body reduce the excess estrogen you may have floating around and help your body produce proper hormone amounts. Aim to eat 5-7 cups a day of these amazing veggies. Lightly sauteed, steamed, or raw!

I like to fry up a big of bacon. Cut my brussel sprouts in half, then toss in with the bacon. Saute lightly until nice and green and finish off with 2 tbsp of grass fed butter over the top. Serve with your favorite entree. Absolutely amazing!
